First I just want to thank everyone for such a great, supportive and memorable class. I definitely have a lot I'm taking away the course, even though it was a very low stress environment.
Mainly, I am thinking about how it is so critical to provide both multiple entry and exit points for different kinds of learners in your class, not just as far as difficulty level, but also in terms of traditional and non-traditional assessment styles. The idea that a student that may not due so well on the MCAS, would have a fantastic portfolio that would show how much they have grown is very important to remember in our increasingly "accountability" driven society. Also, from having such a comfortable and supportive class, I have really come to understand how important is to set the tone of mutual respect and safety within the classroom,it really makes students want to participate and strive to do their best work, which is the most you can ask of any classroom, at any level.
Once again thanks for this wonderful experience and opportunity to meet all of you. I hope we can keep in touch!
